Bringing Smiles and Hopes to Little Faces – 2019

October 28, 2019

Everyone’s got aspirations and goals in life, no matter who they are or where they’re from. And as a team that started out from humble beginnings we understand that it can sometimes be a long and challenging journey towards achieving those dreams.

Which is why we at 4Axis always remain passionate about helping others in any way we can to achieve what they want to in life.

So for our CSR project for 2019, we began to consider how we could lend a helping hand to students with dreams of their own. We were able to locate and get in touch with two schools in the southern area of Sri Lanka. It took us months of detailed planning, discussions and preparation, being the perfectionists we are, to make sure we could provide for the specific needs of the two schools.

Finally, on the 18th of October, a Friday, we set out with everything we’d gathered over the past months, on a long journey away from the hubbub of Colombo and into Southern Sri Lanka.

Our first destination was the Happitiya Maha Vidyalaya in the Galle District and as we soon found out we weren’t the only ones who’d been preparing. We were received with the warmest of welcomes by all 26 little gleaming faces who made up the school’s entire student body, accompanied by their teachers and staff. It was a great start to the morning and we eased into our environment, taking time to interact with the children and teachers.

It was a special moment to be able to share with each of the students a full set of new school supplies and stationery. We also opened out a new computer lab, equipped with 10 computers, tables, chairs and lastly a printer for the school office. We also helped the school library by donating books to add to its collection.

After a well-enjoyed morning we were on our way to the neighbouring district of Matara, where the Dewalagama Kanishta Vidyalaya, the second school was located.Once again we were received with a warm welcome by everyone outside the school building with its pure white walls and thick surroundings of trees. We gathered with all the students at the school hall to witness the wide range of talents that the little ones there had to offer.

For the second time that day we were able to give each young student a new school bag and other schooling essentials together with a set of stationery items. During our initial preparations we were also made aware that this primary school was proud to have among their students, those who excelled at the grade 5 scholarship exams. So in celebration and appreciation of their efforts they each received an additional gift to help them further along in their academic careers.

It was an inspiring day for all of us to see the passion and hard working spirit that these students and teachers have to move forward.. In fact we saw in the faces of the little children, a bit of ourselves, back when we were looking to start out and achieve our own dreams.

And having been along that journey ourselves, a journey that we’re still on as a team, it was a wonderful opportunity to lend a helping hand to these young minds so that they’re that much closer to making their own dreams a reality.

We’re thankful to the teachers and students of both schools for having us and we wish them plenty of success in everything they set out to achieve in the future!
